About CIDNA

MISSION

The Cedar-Isles-Dean Neighborhood Association works for the benefit of its residents and the community at large by promoting civic engagement, encouraging social and cultural exchange, working for the preservation and enjoyment of the natural environment and residential properties, and supporting a vibrant commercial district.

VISION

The Cedar-Isles-Dean Neighborhood is an inclusive, safe, and peaceful community where residents are good stewards of their homes, enjoy and safeguard the natural environment, and care about each other’s well-being.

VALUES

Respect, community service, welcoming to all, accountability, collaboration, optimism, education, environmental sustainability.

History

CIDNA was founded in 1975 by residents responding to development that threatened the environmental integrity of area lakes and parks.

CIDNA was one of Minneapolis’s earliest neighborhood associations. It was a product of its times, part of the national grassroots movement that started in the 1960s as “protest” and by the 1970s had evolved into “program.”

Through the decades, the Cedar-Isles Dean Neighborhood Association has embraced the priorities of community-building and environmental protection.
